Patricia Monteiro explains the recent advances in neuroscience for Nature

Nature Group, publisher of the prestigious Nature magazine, has invited Branco Weiss fellow Patricia Monteiro to do a review of the latest studies on autism spectrum disorder. Several recent studies have supported an association between cases of autism spectrum disorder and some genetic mutations. Dr. Monteiro was asked to do the review after she published the findings of her own studies back in February last year. The new paper combining her own results with the findings of other recent studies has been published now in Nature Reviews in Neuroscience. It concludes that treatment for these disorders should be initiated as soon as possible.
