Lara Keuck to lead new Max Planck Research Group

21.07.2020 15:37

The Max Planck Society has appointed Branco Weiss Fellow Lara Keuck leader of a new Research Group on “Practices of Validation in the Biomedical Sciences”. The Research Group, opening at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in July 2021, will elucidate validation practices in the modern biomedical sciences with the aim of historicizing validity as a relational property. What methods and concepts are used to ascertain the quality of scientific research? How has validity been established, measured, and advocated?

The appointment of all Max Plank Research Group Leaders is subject to a rigorous selection procedure which is coordinated centrally. As a Group Leader, Lara Keuck has received a five-year contract which can be extended by two years in the event of positive evaluation. Together with their Research Group, leaders use the infrastructure of the Institute concerned and also have their own budget for personnel and resources. The Group Leaders can use the approved budget at their own discretion.
