Vincent Fortuin appointed Full Professor at University of Technology Nuremberg

17.11.2025 09:53

Branco Weiss Fellow Vincent Fortuin has been appointed Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAI) at the University of Technology Nuremberg (UTN). Vincent Fortuin leads the Probabilistic Machine Learning research group, which investigates how insights from Bayesian statistics can improve the reliability and efficiency of deep learning models, especially when only limited training data are available. Before joining UTN, Vincent Fortuin pursued his academic career at ETH Zurich, the University of Cambridge, and the Technical University of Munich. He has been a Branco Weiss Fellow since 2021. During his fellowship, he has explored probabilistic approaches to deep learning that combine mathematical rigor with real-world impact – advancing methods that help artificial intelligence learn from fewer data and make better decisions under uncertainty. His research contributes to making artificial intelligence more robust and interpretable in scientific and practical applications alike. With this appointment, UTN strengthens its research focus in machine learning.
