Tomas Fiala wins an ERC Starting Grant for his Proteoformer project

Branco Weiss Fellow Tomas Fiala has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant with his project titled “Beyond the protein: manipulating proteoforms with chemical tools”. The “Proteoformer” project aims at developing novel chemical probes that will enable switching between protein states and blocking specific protein forms. The probes will allow Dr. Tomas to gain insight into the neurobiology of receptors and enzymes relevant to Parkinson’s disease and neuroinflammation. The “Proteoformer” project was judged among the top 12 % of proposals out of 3 928 submitted applications. The European Research Council will support Tomas Fiala with 1.81 million euro over five years.
