Branco Weiss fellows Suzanne Devkota and Michael Fabinyi have been appointed new positions.

Michael Fabinyi, currently a Senior Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University in Australia, will be taking up a new, permanent position as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney, from May 16. Fabinyi’s research examines the social and political aspects of marine resource use and management. A particular focus is the role of China in global fisheries.

Already in January, Suzanne Devkota has started a faculty position as Director of Microbiome Research at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and jointly appointed assistant professor at University of California, Los Angeles. In her studies, Devkota explores the impact of diet-induced changes, especially dietary fatty acids, on the intestinal microbiota of humans and associated inflammatory and metabolic responses.
