Robert Baines gains recognition for his research in robotics

Branco Weiss Fellow Robert Baines has received a Rising Star Award at the 2025 IEEE International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft), held on April 23–26 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to and vision for the field of soft robotics. As part of the award, Dr. Baines gave a featured talk at the conference about his research on “Adaptive shape-morphing quadruped robots for industrial task versatility.”

In addition, Dr. Baines has been named a Robotics: Science and Systems Pioneer. This award given by Robotics: Science and Systems (RSS) conference recognizes him as among “a cohort of the world’s top early-career researchers.” The pioneers come together in an intensive workshop held in conjunction with the conference. Dr. Baines will travel to Los Angeles to present his research at this event taking place June 20, 2025.
