Can Aztekin wins Rising Star Award and ERC Starting Grant

Branco Weiss Fellow Can Aztekin, group leader at the Friedrich Miescher Laboratory in Tübingen, has been honored with the Rising Star Award 2025 of the International Society of Regenerative Biology and has also been awarded a prestigious ERC Starting Grant. The Rising Star Award recognizes his pioneering work on how regenerative codes are conserved across species and how environmental factors such as oxygen influence regenerative capacity. His ERC project, titled “Signal to Regeneration (SigReg)”, aims to uncover the mechanisms that can unlock dormant regenerative potential in mammals. The European Research Council will support Can Aztekin with 1.8 million euro over five years.
