Fellowship Research

This project will focus on poorly understood aspects of fluid-melt-rock interactions in subduction zones, i.e. active tectonic settings where elements are recycled between the surface and the interior of the Earth. Using a combination of high-pressure experimental technics and computational approaches, Matthieu will investigate key (redox and acid-base) properties of geological liquids that have controlled their ability to redistribute light elements and metals between the surface and the deep Earth, and shaped our planetary host.
